Refunds

Tuition Refunds for Credit Classes
Refunds are given only if the requests are made to the Registration office during the refund periods (see Calendar). All refunds will be issued from the Accounts Payable department by check to the student within two to three weeks of the refund request, including refunds for payments made by charge cards. Exchanges cannot be performed through Internet Registration.

The Registration Calendar indicates the appropriate time period for refunds. Refunds for classes that begin and end outside of the regular semester schedule are determined on an individual basis.

Youth Education
A 100% refund is granted for withdrawal up to one day prior to the first class. Parents must call (630) 942-2208 to request a withdrawal or they will be charged the full amount. Please note that non-attendance does not count as withdrawal. If a class is canceled, a complete refund will be issued.

Non-Credit Classes
A 100 percent refund is given if you withdraw up to one calendar day before the start of your class. Please note that non-attendance does not count as withdrawal.

Refunds for Field & Interdisciplinary Studies
Trip fees are non-refundable. Travel protection brochures are available in the Field Studies office.

Refunds for Canceled Classes, College Errors
A 100 percent refund is given for a withdrawal that is caused by a canceled class or a college error. If a substitute class is not taken, a refund for paid tuition and fees will be issued within two to three weeks.

Medical Withdrawals
Direct your request for a medical withdrawal to the office of the Dean of Enrollment Services, (630) 942-4284. Requests should be made in writing and accompanied by documentation from a physician or medical institution to verify the medical condition, date of onset and estimated length of treatment. Requests for medical withdrawals are reviewed individually. Refunds are issued when appropriate within the guidelines of the College of DuPage refund policy.

To request a medical withdrawal, please print and complete this form. You will receive written notification of the decision within two weeks from the office of the Dean of Enrollment Services.

Admission/Recording Fee
The $20 admission/recording fee will not be refunded.

Lab and Material Fees
Students withdrawing from credit classes that have lab/material fees will receive 100 percent of the lab/material fees for the first 7 percent of the session. Lab/material fees will not be refunded after 7 percent of the session.

Credit and Noncredit Class Concurrent Registration
If a student who is registered for both credit and non-credit classes wishes to withdraw from one class, the refund policy used will be the one appropriate for the class from which the student is withdrawing.

Appeals
Appeals regarding refunds should be made in writing to the office of the director of Admissions, Registration and Records. You will be notified in writing within two to three weeks of the decision whether or not to grant your refund request. To request an appeal in writing, please fill out this form. Print and complete the form and return it to the appropriate office (refer to the form instructions for more information on the submission process).

Payment Due Dates
NEW PAYMENT POLICY: Effective Friday, July 15, all students are required to pay their tuition and fees at the time of registration. Students may pay by cash, check or credit card. Students unable to pay in full must enroll in our convenient “Pay As You Go” payment plan. Students receiving financial aid (i.e., grants and loans) must enroll in the College’s deferred payment plan. Direct links to these payment options are found in myACCESS, or enrollment forms are available at Registration, Financial Aid or Cashiers offices. Students who are sponsored by their employer must now pay their tuition and fees first to the College, then obtain reimbursement from their employer per their individual benefit policies.

For Financial Aid questions, visit the Financial Aid website, call (630) 942-2251 or e-mail financialaid@cod.edu. For other questions, please contact the Cashier’s Office at (630) 942-2206, e-mail cashiers@cod.edu.
