Nov. 5, 2009 - Pleased be advised that foundation work for the College Center addition is scheduled to start in approximately two weeks. This will require closing the smoking area outside Student Resource Center Door 5 and the closure of Horseshoe Drive on the north side of the Berg Instructional Center.
The Pace bus stop will be relocated to Tallgrass Drive, just north of its current location. During this period the second and first floor windows on the east side of the Library will be covered with a temporary, protective wall.
The initial foundation work will include using an auger that is powered by a large diesel engine to drill for the placement of caissons. Concrete demolition will limit the use of jack hammers to break apart concrete that will then be loaded by excavators into trailers and driven away. This is the quietest method available for completion of this project but there will still be some intermittent noise disturbance.
