Oct. 6, 2009 – The Association for Experiential Education has named the College of DuPage Field and Experiential Learning program its 2009 Organizational Member of the Year.
The award is given each year to organizations that maintain high-standard innovative and outstanding programming and provide noteworthy support for the work of the AEE.
Past recipients include the University of New Hampshire Outdoor Education program, Sterling College and Santa Fe Mountain Center.
“This is the first major award the Field and Experiential Learning program has received. It’s an affirmation of the talented faculty and the creative, safe and high-quality programs they offer,” said program coordinator Maren McKellin.
The College’s program features experience-based/faculty-facilitated programs that combine classroom work with empirical field experience. Weekend and longer courses that include elements of , natural science, social science and cultural and international are offered year round.
“This is a great honor for College of DuPage,” she said. “I don’t know of any other institution of higher learning that offers students and the community the scope of opportunities available here.”
