Oct. 29, 2009 - The College of DuPage Veteran’s Association will host the third annual Veterans Day Read-In from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the Student Resource Center, Room 2800 at the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.
The event is a symbolic and educational way to honor the service of veterans. Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to read their favorite text from war and military literatures, including poems and excerpts from short stories, essays, memoirs or public letters, and personal stories.
Presentations should be five to ten minutes long and include an introduction of the author or veteran. Participants must register by Thursday, Nov. 5.
The College has more than 700 student veterans, but many students know little of the country’s military history. The event is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of the veteran population while teaching students the importance of veterans’ service.
