Aug. 10, 2009 - The College Theater program at College of DuPage launches an exciting mix of horror, drama and comedy for its 2009-2010 season.

Staged by students, StageWorks features fully designed productions and the Actors’ Theatre in the Studio offers performances using sparse set design to focus on the acting process.

All shows are performed at 8 p.m., Thursday to Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays.

The season begins Oct. 15 with a production of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula.” Adapted for the stage by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston, the horror classic is the story of Lucy Seward and Dr. Van Helsing’s quest to determine whether the cause of Seward’s mysterious illness is her new neighbor, Count Dracula.

Performances run through Nov. 1. Tickets are $10 for adults and $9 for seniors, students and youth.

One of Neil Simon’s most beloved comedies, “Plaza Suite,” hits the stage Nov. 12. The play’s three storylines revolve around couples staying in the same suite at a New York luxury hotel. The stories range from a wife planning an anniversary celebration to a producer plotting an affair to a jittery bride who has locked herself in the bathroom.

Performances run through Nov. 22. Tickets are $12 for adults and $11 for seniors, students and youth.

A dramatic tale of a novice nun discovered unconscious in her room with a dead newborn, John Pielmeier’s “Agnes of God” will be presented beginning March 4. While convent officials look for answers, the story raises questions about sanity, innocence, religious life and the possibility of a miraculous virgin birth.

Performances run through March 21. Tickets are $10 for adults and $9 for seniors, students and youth.

Closing out the 2009-2010 season, William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” or “What You Will” takes the stage April 8. When twins Viola and Sebastian are separated in a shipwreck, they are forced to survive in a strange land full of comedic characters in the Bard’s raucous mix of mistaken identity and unlikely love.

Performances run through April 18. Tickets are $12 for adults and $11 for seniors, students and youth.
