Oct. 13, 2009 – Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Larry Lansburgh will present “Is Environmental Activism Really Effective?” from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, in the Student Resource Center, Room 2800, at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.
The Nov. 17 presentation is co-sponsored by the College’s Latin American Studies Committee and the International Education office and is being held in conjunction with C.O.D.’s International Education Week activities.
Lansburgh, who chronicled the Achuar in “Dream People of the Amazon,” will discuss the environmental devastation the Achuar people of the Ecuadorian Amazon have been able to overcome against the money and power of multinational corporations.
Admission is free, but tickets are required.
