Nov. 5, 2009 – College of DuPage hosted “City of Wheaton Community Night” on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Community and business leaders from the City of Wheaton, including Wheaton Mayor Michael J. Gresk and County Board Member Debra L. Olson, provided valuable ideas and feedback to College of DuPage Board of Trustees members, COD President Robert L. Breuder and other administrators on a variety of issues ranging from new educational opportunities to economic development.

“We believe these dinners are a wonderful way for us to spend quality time with community and business leaders,” said Board Chairman Kathy A. Wessel, a Wheaton resident for more than 30 years. “This evening we hope to learn about the positive ways this College is meeting our community’s needs and how we can do better in the future.”

During the dinner, community members participated in feedback sessions. Their input will be incorporated into the College’s strategic planning process.

“Currently, sixty percent of all college students in this country are enrolled in community colleges, and there is no doubt this number will continue to rise,” said COD President Robert L. Breuder. “At College of DuPage, we are proud to provide unparalleled education and services for our community. We rely in great part on input from district representatives like you to help us with our strategic planning to keep this positive momentum going.”

The next Community Night will take place on Dec. 8 with the City of Glen Ellyn. For more information, contact Community Relations Coordinator Judy Horn at (630) 942-3283 or hornju@cod.edu.
