Apply Now for German Exchange Program

Oct. 2, 2009 – The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals and the Work Immersion Study Program are currently accepting applications for study abroad programs beginning in summer 2010.

The CBYX scholarship program was created in 1983 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the first German immigration to North America. The year-long program maintains a strong focus on cultural exchange and is designed to give participants an understanding of everyday life, education and professional training. The program is intended for young adults in business, technical, vocational and agricultural fields and consists of two months of intensive German language training, four months of classroom instruction at a German university or college, and a five-month paid internship in the student’s career field.

Like CBYX, the Work Immersion Study Program (WISP) provides community college students with practical work experience, German language skills and immersion in German culture. The three-month summer program includes a one-month language course at the Goethe-Institut, followed by a series of paid internships with host companies in the Baden-Wurttemberg region.

Eligible students must be age 18 to 24 and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
