Oct. 23, 2009 – College of DuPage College Theatre presents Neil Simon’s beloved comedy “Plaza Suite” Friday, Nov. 13, to Sunday, Nov. 22, in Theatre 2 of the McAninch Arts Center, 425 Fawell Blvd.

A special preview performance will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12. Regular performances are 8 p.m., Thursdays to Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays.

One of Neil Simon’s best-loved comedies, “Plaza Suite” features three stories about couples staying in the same suite at New York’s Plaza Hotel. Stories include a wife planning an anniversary celebration, a Hollywood producer planning an affair with an old flame, and wedding day chaos when the jittery bride locks herself in the bathroom.

“Neil Simon is one of the classic comedy writers,” director Michael Ryczek said. “He just has this classic sense of humor and the play has a great cathartic feel for the audience.”

Audience members  willenjoy Simon’s humorous poke at situations in everyday life and they’ll also enjoy the look and feel of the play itself, he said.

“The play was written in 1968 and we’re also setting it in 1968,” Ryczek said. “It allows us to have fun with costumes, music and sets and it makes this experience even more enjoyable for cast members, many of whom weren’t around in 1968.”

Tickets to the Nov. 12 preview performance are $9. A pre-show discussion will be held at 6:45 p.m.

Tickets to regular performances are $12 for adults and $11 for seniors, College of DuPage students and youth. A post-show discussion is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 20.
