The College of DuPage Casa de Amigos Spanish Club, Latin American Studies Committee and LEA are inviting College faculty, staff and students to attend a Day of the Dead celebration at the National Museum of Mexican Fine Art in Pilsen, Ill., on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There is no charge for bus transporation from the College to the museum or for entrance fees. A $5 deposit is required to reserve a seat on the bus. This deposit will be returned the day of the trip. The bus leaves at 10 a.m. from the cafeteria entrance, located on the south side of the Student Resource Center.
The National Museum of Mexican Art's Permanent Collection contains over 6,000 objects, and is one of the largest collections of Mexican art in the nation. The NMMA is the only Latino museum accredited by the American Association of Museums and one of only a handful of museums of color in the country to receive accreditation. It has become the premier repository for Mexican art in the nation. In 2001, the Museum tripled in size to accommodate state-of-the-art storage vaults and additional galleries to showcase its Collection.
