Dual Credit: A Pathway to Success

Dual Credit provides high school students with the opportunity to enroll in selected courses for which they will receive both college credit and high school credit.

What are the advantages for students?
  • Reduce your college costs with tuition-free courses
  • Obtain your college certificate/degree in less time
  • Get a head start in your college experience.
  • Access College of DuPage resources.
  • Earn college credit that can be applied toward a certificate or degree or may be transferred to another college or university.

Students enroll in specific high school courses that also offer the opportunity to earn college credit.

  • Many schools have partnered with College of DuPage to offer Dual Dredit courses to students, including:

    Addison Trail High School, Downers Grove North High School, Downers Grove South High School, Fenton High School, Lyons Township High School, Metea Valley High School, Naperville Central High School, Naperville Frontier Campus, Naperville North High School, Neuqua Valley High School, Technology Center of DuPage, Waubonsie Valley High School, West Chicago High School, Willowbrook High School, Wheaton Academy, Wheaton North High School, Wheaton-Warrenville South High School and York High School.
  • Classes are taught at the high school during the regular school day by high school teachers who are also approved as adjunct faculty at College of DuPage.
  • Students are dually enrolled in high school and College of DuPage.
In which disciplines can college credit be earned?
Students may be able to earn credit in:
  • Career and Technical Education certificate and degree programs, such as Architecture, Cosmetology, Graphic Arts Technology, Health Sciences, Photography and many more.
  • General education courses that count toward a college degree in such areas as Foreign Languages, Education, Anatomy and Physiology, Sociology and Math.
How do I get started?
  • Check here to see if your high school participates in the dual credit program.
  • Contact your high school counselor or teacher for information on which courses are offered for dual credit.
  • Complete a Dual Credit application with your high school teacher in your classroom.
