Career Information
Hotel and lodging managers can supervise work in many areas of the hotel, such as the front desk, sales and marketing, housekeeping, catering and food services, and conference planning. Hotel manager jobs are expected to increase by 24 percent by 2012, according to the State of Illinois Occupational Employment Projections. Sample salaries are as follows:
General Manager: $120,000
Director, Sales and Marketing: $80,400
Front Office Manager: $42,000
Guest Service Agent: $20,650
Degree and Certificate
College of DuPage offers an associate in applied science (A.A.S.) degree in Hotel and Lodging Management and certificates in Hotel Foundations, Hotel Operations, Hotel Food and Beverage, and Hotel Sales and marketing.

Course Descriptions
Chicago Skål Scholarship
Chicago Skål awards scholarships on an annual basis to currently
enrolled students who are in degree programs in Travel and Tourism,
Hospitality or related degrees. All schools must have a recognized
minimum two- year program. Scholarships are in the amounts of $250 to
$500 per semester based on academic merit and related courses with no
regard to financial status, gender or race.
